Long Sales Copy Or Short In the Age Of "TLDR"

TLDR (ha)... sell hard.

Who reads?

Hell... who watches videos anymore?

Most of my shorts only get watched about 75% through. That's - about - only 45 seconds.

The modern attention span is short. It's easy to think your landing page copy should be short too.

But are you handicapping your best salesperson?

It's The Offer Dummy

A pen laying on some written copy because it's the offer that is the most important.

Typically the offer dictates the length of landing page copy.

A free offer shouldn't take much selling.

So write short copy.

A paid offer is going to take more selling.

So write longer copy.

The logic checks out.

But I think it's the relationship that matters more.

It's the Relationship

An alien robot hand that represents the landing page is gently holding a humans hand.

A LOT has been written about Eugene Swartz's 5 levels of awareness .

If you don't know about them... go learn. It's important.

Awareness Example

At the time of writing this, I am running a paid campaign to cold traffic for a free offer. (A PDF download of all things.)

These prospects are problem aware.

But they're completely unaware of who I am.

So I wrote a long landing page.

How I've been writing my "long" copy is a little unique. I'll write about that later... make sure you follow me to be notified.

So far it's converting at 53%.

Is my offer good? I think so.

Is my ad targeting good? Seems so.

Is my conversion rate good? Better than I thought.

When somebody doesn't know who you are... you have to sell them on you and your offer.

A couple killer bullets won't help you.

I feel this is especially huge these days with spam eating the internet.

Especially when you're offer is free.

Why cripple your best and only salesperson?
